A NEW PLACE OF WORSHIP
A new partnership with a determined congregation in Nombre de Jesus! They have just finished putting on the roof of the church they proudly built with their own hands. We have also been able to supply them with teaching materials and chairs for the sanctuary. It is easy to help those who are so anxious to help themselves and glorify God for their blessings.
Women gather to celebrate a new, deep, dependable well in Lemones. This is one of two wells we put in recently. There will be no more lengthly trecks carrying five gallon buckets of water on their heads.
Our ongoing work in Nicaragua consists of partnering with congregations and communities in the N.E. part of Nicaragua. Nicaragua is second only to Haiti in poverty in our hemisphere, and the area we serve is among the poorest in the nation. Most are farmers who work their own small fields, or those of others, and live with their families in remote villages. They struggle with the heat in the summer and flooding during winter. Our goal is to help leaders support their people spiritually, while enabling them to improve educational and income producing opportunities, as well as access to health services. When we began working in this area in 2006 many of the children did not finish the fifth or sixth grade. Now almost all finish high school and some have finished college. Parents have made education and a better future for their families a number one priority. As of this writing , seven have become teachers and serve in the rural villiages.
